Village Monge, 75005
Posté le 25 January 2017 by Bruno

The intriguing Village Monge has history running through it, with delicate touches of modernity that have been added over time. The historical elements of this village have made a seamless transition to their current place in modern Paris. For example, the Arenes de Lutece, a Roman amphitheater which is believed to be from the 3rd century is now part of a park where children casually play football. Not only is there a Roman arena that you can admire and roam around at will, there is a pleasant park around it that is perfect for a picnic, or simply relaxing outside. The namesake Rue Monge is a charming street that features authentic, Parisian-style shops throughout, and a canopy of tall trees along the sidewalks provides a perfect shade on sunny days. Yet, just as charismatic are the small, traditional narrow roads, such as rue Mouffetard, that run close to the main boulevard. Here you will find one-of-a-kind restaurants and bars, and it is plain to see that this area has a niche for young Parisian university students looking for fun. Some of the hip, quirky spots include “brunch bio”, a restaurant that specializes in the ever-popular fusion of breakfast and lunch with an organic, healthy twist, “Aup’TitGrec”, a Greek café with a varied menu that’s also known for its eager crowds, and “Brewberry”, a sophisticated bar that holds a diverse selection of beers.
